"Aarohana" is an island-wide singing competition organized by the Tamil Students' Committee (TSC) of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. This event aims to discover and promote the most talented young singers across Sri Lanka, while also providing them with a platform to showcase their skills and creativity. The first "Aarohana" competition was held in 2021 and was entirely online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the challenges, the event was a great success, with over 350 participants. This year, the competition is expected to grow even larger, with an anticipated participation of 500 contestants. "Aarohana" is not just a contest; it's a celebration of Tamil culture, tradition, and the vibrant talent within Sri Lanka. By supporting and encouraging young musicians, the competition contributes to the preservation and enrichment of the cultural heritage of the Tamil community.
Contestants aged 16-28 from across Sri Lanka will submit videos of their singing performances online. 25 participants will be selected to advance to the semifinals.
The 25 selected participants will compete in a live, in-person event. After the semifinals, 5 participants will be chosen to proceed to the Grand Finale.
The finalists will compete in the final round for the prestigious title of "Aarohana" champion. The winners will be honored with medals and certificates.
